about

This is a New Year's song. Every time the eve creeps up, you see the memes about how year X broke you, year Y changed you, year Z opened your eyes, and the incoming year you're coming back. This song is directly inspired by that. The "coming for the win" bit is a reference to a close friend's Twitter handle.

lyrics

I got a good feeling about this
There's something brewing in the air
The time is right and now is our chance

And there's good cliches abound
And lots of opportunities waiting for us
All we gotta do is just take 'em

Carpe diem baby - we're going all in!
Oh, you better believe that we're coming for the win
And we're not looking back anymore
This is our year and we're evening the score

So take some time now and let's reflect
Have you done everything that you wanted?
Well, if you haven't you'll be okay

I know I didn't, but I'm still here
And no one around you's fully given up
So let's get up and try it again

Carpe diem baby - we're going all in!
Oh, you better believe that we're coming for the win
And we're not looking back anymore
This is our year and we're evening the score

Progress is never linear
One year broke me, another one molded me
And the next opened my eyes
But now I see things so much more clearly
I'm ready to embrace what I value dearly
Nothing can stop me now

And as the sun sets on a strange year
I'm thankful for all I have learned
I want to believe I'm stronger now

And I believe in the best for you
Good things are coming around the bend
Despite everything, you know that we got this

So carpe diem baby - why don't we go all in?
Oh, you better believe that we're coming for the win
And we're not looking back anymore
This is our year
This is our year
This is our year and we're evening the score!
