about

A vocal piece based off of seeing tule fog in the winter of 2008 at Modesto Junior College. On rare winter/spring nights, if you hang around the east campus at the right time, you will see some truly beautiful fog immersed in the lights of the school. It's very picturesque. I've interpreted this song as a soft acoustic ballad, a multi-harmony a capella choral piece, a cool rock chonker, and a psychedelic jam over the last eleven years this song has been around.

The echoey vocals were influenced by the fadeout on the Electric Light Orchestra song "Julie Don't Live Here". Speaking of 2008, incidentally, this song's original title was "New Song Whose Melody Line Is As Catchy As Splash Woman's Stage Music From Mega Man 9 Is" - yes, it took a while to germ up the lyrics and then a proper title.

lyrics

In the city where the rain never falls
A cold air breeze drifted from the mountains
The blue skies melded into gray
As a fog descended unto this city

Every street and every light faded into the haze
Creating a beautiful mixture of blues, whites, and oranges
And as I stepped out onto the streets
I saw the most magnificent visage surround me

Oh, how I love the fog
Oh, how I love the fog

The sunset faded into the night
As the fog's grays replaced the stars
In every nook and cranny
Spreading its love for all to see

And as for me, well, I
Walked around and breathed deep
Took in that rare cold air
And wished I had my camera with me

Oh, how I love the fog
Oh, how I love the fog

Changes made: as this was one of my earliest multitrack recordings, the original stems have all had permanent reverb and phasing applied to them, making it difficult to improve on. That being said though, some errors in timing have been corrected to better match the timing of the guide vocal's, as well as clicks and pops. Some EQing and effects were also added, but not much.
