about

This was also originally written in 2004 for the same long-distance girlfriend "I Wrote This Song (For You)" was intended for. She pretty much lacked all self confidence, personal hope, and all that, and the degree it was was way worse than mine at the time. I thought if I wrote her an uplifting song, it'd perk her spirits up. It was never revisited until 2009 when its lyrics were married to this neat first capo chord sequence I was fingering around with at the time. I've always really liked how this one turned out.

Some of the vocal tracks on this were recorded on my first laptop at my dad's office in Manteca; you can tell by just how poor quality it sounds, and it totally sticks out at a few points! Didn't have a choice back then, though, as it wasn't until 2010 that I started accumulating better equipment and stopped using cheap mics.

lyrics

Left and right
Up and down
Side by side
Fly the choices of life

What one does
What one says
What one acts
And what one thinks
Create the choices of life

Every day and every night
During every hour minute by minute
People make their choices in life

You gotta believe what your mind tells you
You gotta believe in the ones you trust
You gotta believe in the one you love
Cuz everything will work out
Yes, everything will work out

Two days back
One day forward
Ripples in time
Generated by the choices of life

What one feels
What one enjoys
What one avoids
What one accepts
Constitute the choices of life

Through the endless wait
Lie thoughts unsaid
Would you believe their thoughts?

You gotta believe what your mind tells you
You gotta believe in the ones you trust
You gotta believe in the one you love
Cuz everything will work out
Yes, everything will work out
Yes, everything will work out
'Cause you made a great choice in life!
